A Gentle Start: Settling into Kindergarten

The first weeks are about routine, not letters. We keep drop-off short, keep the same faces nearby and let children watch before they join.

If your child is still teary at the gate, that is normal. Ask us for a photo mid-morning — most children are happily busy within twenty minutes.

Healthy Snacks Children Actually Eat

Small portions, familiar shapes and one new thing at a time. Snack time is a chance to practise pouring, sharing and saying please.

We keep fruit, yoghurt and oat biscuits on rotation, and we note allergies on the classroom board.

Helping Children Make Friends

Friendship starts with small scripts: “Can I play?”, “Your turn”, “That was funny”. We practise them in circle time so they are ready when they are needed.

Teachers pair new children with a buddy for the first week, and we tell parents who their child has been playing with.

Art Projects for Small Hands

Glue sticks, torn paper, fat brushes and washable paint. The goal is the process — squishing, tearing, choosing a colour — not something to hang perfectly straight.

Finished work goes home in the folder at the end of the week, still a little wet sometimes.
